Challenge

My task was to improve/rewrite/redesign the user onboarding process. I also needed to analyse the user journey and think about ways to create a successful onboarding process. Then, create new onboarding screens (mobile app).

Previous Design

Solution

I created an onboarding flow that took the user from sign-up to a personalised dashboard experience, helping them feel supported and confident from the very beginning.

The tone was welcoming and encouraging as users will be wanting to improve their health and fitness without feeling judged or overwhelmed.

Progress tracking at the top allows users to understand where they are in the onboarding process and how many steps remain to complete it.

Information is spread across different screens so as not to overwhelm the user. Once they select an option, they are then presented with the next relevant question, creating a more focused and manageable experience.

On the screens for selecting the user’s weight, I added supportive copy to explain why the app is requesting this information. This acts as reassurance for users, as discussing weight can be a sensitive subject.

Once the user reaches the dashboard, they are presented with tooltips. This allows them to learn about each function of the app at their own pace without being overloaded with information all at once.
